I have resigned due to the attitude of Modi Govt.--Phoolka

Sat, Sep 19, 2015 at 9:07 PM
Modi Govt has gone back from its promise

I have resigned due to the attitude of Modi Government and its apathy towards Justice for victims of 84 Carnage.
I am informed that BJP has stated that I resigned due to attitude of kejriwal, which is absolutely false.
Modi Government has gone back from its promise to punish the guilty, rather has given clean chit to JagdishTytler and not filing that missing chargesheet against Sajjan Kumar.
It has left no option with us then to explore International options. We have already given call for holding demonstration outside UN assembly on 25th September 2015, when Modi attends it, Will work out other ways of International intervention.

I could not have done all this while being in Politics and having a post in a party. So I quit my post.

Mon, Sep 7, 2015 at 3:39 PM
Awareness Programme Organised by Dr. Som Gupta
Ludhiana7th September, 2015: (Punjab Screen Bureau):
Physiotherapy Awareness Programme was organised by Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana. More than 70 patients and their relatives attended the programme. Separate rounds of Interaction were held and a lot of queries regarding Physiotherapy were resolved. The whole session was followed by question-answer round on various scenarios of daily life. Programme was held under the supervision of Dr.Som Gupta Head, Deptt. Of Physiotherapy, Fortis Hospital, ludhiana.
Giving information regarding Physiotherapy Dr.Som Gupta said Why Exercises is important? As we get older, our bodies change in muscle size and strength decreases primarily due to inactivity. Bone mass and density decreases, increasing the susceptibility to fractures. Tendons and ligaments becomes less elastic, making it easy to get overuse injuries. Joint inflammation and cartilage degeneration often occur due to arthritis. Thirty minutes of physical activity a day can help individuals feel good and prevent many medical conditions. Even individuals with chronic conditions, such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, can benefit from a balanced fitness program.

Exercise can help you improve your health and fitness without hurting your joints. Exercise can, Strengthen the muscles around your joints , Help you maintain bone strength, Give you more strength and energy to get through the day, Make it easier to get a good night's sleep, Help you control your weight, Make you feel better about yourself and improve your sense of well-being.
Though you might think exercise will aggravate your joint pain and stiffness, that's not the case. Lack of exercise actually can make your joints even more painful and stiff. That's because keeping your muscles and surrounding tissue strong is crucial to maintaining support for your bones. Not exercising weakens those supporting muscles, making your bones more prone to breaking. It improves mind- body coordination, Improves skin, Improves the workings of your   body’s defense mechanisms,  Increases the Oxygen carrying  capacity of blood, Reduces depression & anxiety, Gives you better sex life, Helps in excretion of waste products from the body, Helps in weight loss by reducing the level of body fat, Helps in healthy weight gain by increasing muscle mass, Improves digestion, Improves your sleeping pattern, Slows the ageing process.
Exercise Can Help in;
Diabetes mellitus, High blood press, Joint pain, Osteoporosis, Depression, Obesity, Anorexia nervosa, sports injuries, Indigestion, Certain Cardiac diseases, Addictions, Problems of old age, Muscular coordination problems, Arthritis.

Giving Tips to protect joints Dr. Sanjeev Mahajan, Director Orthopedics Department said that Start slowly to ease your joints into exercise if you haven't been active for a while. If you push yourself too hard, you can overwork your muscles. This aggravates your joint pain. Move your joints gently at first to warm up. You might begin with range-of-motion exercises for five to 10 minutes before you move on to strengthening or aerobic exercises. Exercise with slow and easy movements. If you start noticing pain, take a break. Sharp pain and pain that is stronger than your usual joint pain might indicate something is wrong. Slow down if you notice inflammation or redness in your joints. Ice your joints after exercising. This can reduce swelling and pain. Use a cold pack on your joints for 10 to 15 minutes.

Tell your Physiotherapist if your exercise causes
Persistent fatigue or increased weakness, Reduced range of motion in your joints, Joint swelling, Continuing pain.

Basic types of Exercises
Stretching & ROM exercise: Help maintain normal joint function by keeping normal joint flexibility and range. Keeping a joint in a bent position may temporarily help to relieve the discomfort of osteoarthritis  but holding it in that position can cause long term loss of joint mobility and hinder daily activities.These are basically bending or stretching the joint to a point that is comfortable to go to. Comfort must be maintained. It is also a great form of warm up for other forms of exercise.

Cardiovascular or aerobic: These are good to keep your heart healthy. It increases the endurance of heart.
Strengthening: Some people with arthritis really avoid doing any strength exercises as they feel its going to cause them great pain. A strong joint is going to be a more stable one. Strong muscles surrounding a joint can act as protection, easing the load placed on the damage cartilage, helping to stop further damage. Isometric exercises are done without moving the joint. Basically you are contracting the muscles. These are good as introduction exercises for people who have significant pain and have deteriorated in strength.

Hydrotherapy : Hydrotherapy is basically doing exercises in water. This is a great way to do simple range of motion exercises. It is very low resistance, no stress on the joint, and you can safely move your joint through its range of motion relatively pain free. In the pool you can do exercises from range of motion to resistance training.
Also present on the occasion were Mr. Vivan Gill, Facility Director, Dr. Harpreet Brar, Admin Head, , Dr. Alok Jain and Dr.Neeraj Bansal Fortis Hospital Ludhiana.

Letter to Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib JI by H S Phoolka

Thu, Aug 27, 2015 at 3:16 PM
Dismal Sex Ratio Cause of Decline in Sikh Population

Ludhiana: 27 August 2015: (Punjab Screen Bureau):

Mr. H.S. Phoolka has written a letter Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib stating that a statement of him and other Sikh Organisations to produce more children is not a right step in the present day modern world.  There are many reasons for decline of the population and among them the major cause is the lowest Sex Ratio among the Sikhs at National level.  The Sex Ratio among the Sikhs is 903 Female compare to 1000 male.  The sex Ratio among other religions is - Christian 1023, Muslim 951, Hindu 939.  One of the reasons of increase in Muslim population is the higher sex ratio which is much more than Hindus and as well as Sikhs.

Mr. Phoolka had requested to Akal Takhat Jathedar that to check the decline in Sex population and female Feticide, the works need to be done at ground level.  Mere advertisement  in the TV and Newspapers are not enough.

Mr. Phoolka has given an example of a scheme implemented in 2005-06 by the then Dy. Commissioner of  Nawanshahr Mr. Krishan Kumar.  This scheme had almost stopped the Female Foeticide in the District.  The said Dy. Commissioner received International Award for this.  Instead of implementing this scheme in all the District of Punjab, after transfer of Dy. Commissioner in 2007 the scheme was almost stopped.

Mr. Phoolka has requested to Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib Ji to take immediate steps on ground level and implement this scheme throughout Punjab and take other necessary steps to increase the Female Ratio and check the Female Feticide.  Copy of letter is enclosed.

In dairy business feed cost alone is around 65% of the total dairy farming expenditure.  Dairy farmers make their best efforts to make the balanced feed but availability of feed ingredients, their quality and prices are area of concern. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences  University in collaboration with Department of Dairy Development, Punjab regularly conduct trainings for cattle feed millers to update their knowledge and making economical feed for the high yielding animals. One of such training was conducted by Vet Varsity for 55 feed millers coming from different parts of Punjab. Joint call to observe All India Bank Strike on 2nd Sept. 2015

* March on to National Protest Strike on 2nd September, 2015
* Oppose anti-worker Labour Reforms.
* Oppose anti-people Banking Reforms.
* Make the Strike a success in all Banks.
Ludhiana: 27 August 2015: (Punjab Screen Bureau):
All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), AIBOA, BEFI, INBOC, NOBW, INBEF AND NOBO has given joint call to observe All India Strike on 2nd Sept. 2015 against anti-people Economic Reforms and anti-worker Labour Reforms of the Central Government. More than 100 million workers from all over the country and belonging to all Central Trade Unions and in all sectors will be joining the Strike. It is going to be a most powerful protest and massive disapproval of the retrograde economic and labour policies of the present NDA Government.
DEMANDING
*STOP ANTI-WORKER LABOUR REFORMS
* STOP ANTI-PEOPLE BANKING REFORMS
* STOP LOOT OF PEOPLE’S MONEY BY CORPORATE LOAN DEFAULTERS
* DECLARE WILLFUL DEFAULT OF BANK LOANS AS CRIMINAL OFFENNCE
* STOP OUTSOURCING OF BANK JOBS
All of us are fully aware of the increasing attacks on the workers and trade unions on their rights and privileges and the encouragement and concessions being extended to the employers in our country.  There are open attempts to amend the various labour laws in favour of the employers and to the detriment of the workers.  The neo-liberal economic policies are only aggravating the problems of the workers and common masses. Banking industry is no exception.  In the Banking industry, we are already aware of the Government’s continuous attempts to push through their reforms agenda aimed at privatisation of banks, consolidation and merger of Banks, etc.  More and more private capital and FDI are being encouraged.  Regional Rural Banks are sought to be privatised and the Bill has been passed by the Government in the Parliament despite protests by our Unions. Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACs) are under threat of winding up. Urban Co-operative Banks are under threat of delicensing. Private sector executives are imposed on the public sector banks.  All the Government schemes are being imposed on the Banks without proper infrastructure and manpower resulting harassment and problems faced by the bank staff.  Bank officers are being denied regulated working hours.    Permanent and regular jobs are being outsourced on contract basis and contract employees are being exploited. Government would like to proceed on its agenda to amend the labour laws without any proper consultation with the trade unions.

Hence it is necessary and imperative to join the general trade union movement and register our protest against these anti-worker policies of the Government.

Traditional feeding of visitors at Sikh gurdwara at Manikaran, Himachal Pradesh, in 2004
According to the Sikhs, during third Udasi, the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak came to this place in 15 Asu 1574 Bikrami with his disciple Bhai Mardana. Mardana felt hungry and they had no food. Guru Nanak sent Mardana to collect food for the langar (the Community Kitchen). Many people donated atta (flour) to make Roti(bread). The one problem was that there was no fire to cook the food.Guru Nanak asked Mardana to lift a stone and he complied and a hot spring appeared. As directed by Guru Nanak, Mardana put the rolled chapatis in the spring to his despair the chapatis sank.Guru Nanak then told him to pray to God saying that if his chapatis float back then he would donate one chapati in His name.
